rísa is part of a long term project on the virtue of pristine nature.

As the demand for new energy resources is growing, vast areas of nature are at risk of being irreversibly altered. Þjórsárver wetlands, an area of 120 km2 in the centre of Iceland, are part of a proposal for a hydroelectric dam that would affect their entire landscape, while the majority of the population opposes these political plans and scientists are warning against the many side effects this would have on the environment.

While the mental picture of Þjórsárver is only vivid to a few, rísa creates a new image of this barely exposed landscape that abstracts its vastness and fragility in its natural white condition and raises the question of the importance of an untouched nature.
