A long-term project for which I am collaborating with astronauts from an international background that focuses on the question, what happens to a person once he or she has seen the world from out of space.
While the scientific approach is central to a mission in space, I believe that one must make an even more profound physical, psychological and intellectual experience that cannot be put into a perspective by science. The underlying question, how and in which way this experience affects a human´s life will not be answered directly, but rather slowly arise within the observer to trigger their own imagination.
The project consists of a conceptual portrait series that will be accompanied by a book including texts and interviews with the astronauts.
French astronaut Jean-Francois Clervoy has been to space three times where he was the leading hand to repair the Hubble Space Telescope.
